Hadi has been inducted as a Fellow of ASCE as well as a Fellow of Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) for his contribution to the advancement in civil engineering.  Over the last 25 years, he has provided geotechnical and foundation recommendations for numerous projects in North America, Africa, Middle East, and Bangladesh.  Hadi is considered an recognized expert in designing large foundations, deep excavations and retention systems, offshore pipelines, seismic design and finite element analysis.  He has proven experiences in providing complete geotechnical and foundation design recommendations for large scale oil & gas onshore and offshore production and process facilities, heavy industrial and infrastructure projects.  His geotechnical project experiences include multi-billion dollar Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminals and process facilities in the states of Texas, Louisiana, Massachusetts in USA, Nigeria, Qatar, multiple offshore oil platforms in Saudi Arabia, and deep water / subsea field development projects in Gulf of Mexico, Offshore Africa, Australia, Malaysia, Qatar as well as gas and power facilities and marine terminals in Bangladesh.  Hadi obtained his undergraduate degree in civil engineering from BUET and graduate degree in geotechnical engineering from Texas A&M University, Texas, USA.  He authored / co-authored technical publications and presented in many international conferences.

Experience also includes design of structures for refineries and thermal power plants, fertilizer plants, other Industrial plants and office Buildings, etc.  Smarajit’s area of expertise on onshore industrial facilities cover steel and concrete structures associated with petrochemical, power generation and fertilizer industries. Smarajit has vast experience and knowledge on planning and design of marine jetties for crude tankers, from 6000 DWT to 320,000 DWT, along with the shore facilities.  He also has designed structural facilities for GBS (Gravity Based concrete Structures) supported LNG terminal. Smarajit also has long experience in working on offshore structural facilities designing, and constructing offshore platforms including the subsea structure (Jacket) and piles, deck, Helideck, flare tower and all other associated structures needed for operation, fabrication, transportation and installation of the facilities in offshore USA and abroad. During most of the time of his long carrier, Smarajit has worked with and managed large working teams, where he has supervised, guided and conducted work with multi-discipline engineering teams, planners, Quality Assurance personnel, project/cost control personnel etc. as well as coordinated with Client teams, construction team members, Contractors /subcontractors and vendors. Smarajit received “Bachelor of Civil Engineering” from Bengal Engineering College Sibpur, then, under University of Calcutta. He got his Master degree (M. Tech) in “Structures” from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur.

Motaher Hossain, BSc, MS (UK), F.IEB

APS Senior Design Consultant, Mr. Motaher Hossain, a renowned Design Engineer of Bangladesh Water Development Board, has more than thirty five years of experience in design and engineering of major hydraulic structures, river bank protection system, power plants, erosion protection measures, river training, dredging, etc.  Motaher’s notable design works include all types of hydraulic structures of Teesta Barrage, river bank protection measures for the bridges over the Padma and the Ganges.

In addition to hydraulic structures, Motaher also has expertise in structural design and construction management of  high-rise residential and commercial buildings, stadiums, marine jetties. Mr. Hossain is a member of expert panel of Joint River Commission between Bangladesh and India.  He has been invited to participate as an Expert in numerous local and international studies funded by World Bank, ADB, JICA, JRC. Motaher received “Bachelor of Civil Engineering” from BUET in 1984. He got his Master degree (MSc) from University of Southampton in 1993.  Mr. Hossain retired as Additional Director General in 2020 prior to serving as Chief Design Engineer of BWDB overseeing major BWDB projects all over Bangladesh.  Motaher is well-known for his out-of-box thinking and innovative approaches to solve complex design and construction problems.

M. A. Karim, BSc (BUET), MS (USA), F.IEB

Considered one of the leading hydrology experts of Bangladesh, APS Founder, M. A. Karim had over 45 years of experiences in numerous water related projects.  He had experiences in designing major flood control structures, embankments and barrages, river training and bank protective systems, dewatering systems for barrages, pumping stations and regulators, drainage and irrigation systems, water supply and treatment systems.

He had expertise in the field of surface and groundwater survey and investigation, planning and designing of water wells and well-fields, and development of water resources, hydraulic and hydrologic modeling.  Following his retirement as Chief Engineer of Bangladesh Water Development Board, Mr. Karim founded APS in 1997, and continued providing his engineering expertise until his passing in 2015.
